Ludhiana: Admin to rope in volunteers to fight against drugs

Ludhiana: Officials said government officials have been asked to involve more volunteers and enthusiastic individuals to intensify the fight against the drug menace and rehabilitate youth undergoing de-addiction treatment. They said these instructions were issued at the last session of the district-level meeting of the Narco Coordination Committee, which was held under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Viraj S. Tidarke. Tidarke said that the three Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) – Malerkotla, Ahmedgarh, and Amargarh – have been asked to monitor the progress of the second phase of the war against drug abuse. “We have encouraged civil and police administration officials to strengthen their resources by involving more enthusiastic social, educational, and religious organizations,” Tidarke said. District Revenue Officer and convener of the meeting, Mandeep Kaur, said that the massive campaign launched in her jurisdiction has yielded positive results.
