Punjab: The court of Additional Sessions Judge Amarjit Singh has sentenced Ludhiana resident Prabhjot Singh alias Jot alias Parvinder Singh to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl. While pronouncing the verdict, the court has recommended the District Legal Services Authority Ludhiana to pay a compensation of Rs 6 lakh to the victim’s family for the purpose of social rehabilitation, better future and welfare of the girl. The court has also ordered the accused to pay a fine of Rs 1.20 lakh. Out of the fine, one lakh rupees will be given to the victim as compensation. Special Public Prosecutor Rushil Jindal said that on December 27, 2023, the girl was playing outside her house. According to the complaint of her mother, the accused lured the girl and took her to a nearby vacant plot, where he gagged the girl’s mouth and sexually assaulted her. The girl returned home crying, after which her mother informed the police about the matter. Sub-inspector Kuljit Kaur recorded the statement of the victim while SL Satwinder Singh led the investigation. Evidence was collected from the scene, which corroborated the victim’s statement. It was revealed that the accused committed the crime repeatedly.
