Ludhiana: 11 couples tied the knot in a mass wedding

Ludhiana: Eleven couples tied the knot at a ceremony organised by an NGO at Ram Talai Chhappar on Sunday. The wedding took place at the appeal of Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and Dr Parminder Kaur Gajjanmajra, the chief guest of the ceremony. Gurpreet said, “While congratulating the couples who are embarking on a new phase of life, I would like to urge them to adopt patience and contentment as the basic elements of their lifestyle as these are the two most valuable ornaments of life which can make one’s life smooth and happy.” He lauded the NGO Samay Sewa Samiti for arranging marriages of hundreds of poor parents without any discrimination by sharing the responsibility of their children. Nagar Parishad Chairman Vikas Krishan Sharma, founder of the host organisation, said the society has so far arranged marriages of more than 250 poor girls. Apart from organising a grand party for the friends and relatives of the bride and groom, the organisers also presented items of daily use to the newlyweds. The gifts included jewellery, kitchen utensils, cooking gas cylinders, clothes, furniture and bedding.
