Lt Governor reviews preparations for Amarnath Yatra via Baltal route

Srinagar (IANS) | Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Baltal on Wednesday and reviewed the preparations for the annual Amarnath Yatra through the Baltal route. The Lt Governor appraised the arrangements made for healthcare, power, communication, water supply and sanitation, weather forecasting, disaster management, security grid and all other basic needs for the pilgrims, an official statement said.

He directed the officials to ensure that the yatra base camp has adequate number of doctors, staff, equipment, medicines and oxygen cylinders. BRO was directed to mobilize resources and complete all the works before the start of the yatra.

The Lt Governor said, since the Yatra is in difficult terrain at high altitude with low oxygen levels, health facilities and round-the-clock care should be ensured.

The Lt Governor asked the officials to ensure communication services and night air services on the yatra route.

He also instructed to set up a tent with fire extinguishers.

The yatra will start from July 1 and continue till August 31.

Baltal is a camp site for pilgrims in the Ganderbal district of Kashmir.
