Bengaluru: Karnataka Lokayukta on Thursday raided 56 locations including residences, offices and other properties of some officials in connection with disproportionate assets. According to sources, more than a hundred officials were involved in the raid. Simultaneous raids were conducted against 11 government officials. This action was initiated on the basis of allegations of earning more property than known sources of income. Simultaneous raids were conducted in Bengaluru, Kolar, Mandya, Mysore, Chitradurga, Kalaburagi, Belgaum and Hassan districts.
Investigators had obtained a search warrant from the court for search, inspection and seizure. Raids were conducted at the residence of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and their relatives in Bengaluru. A tehsildar’s house in Kolar city was raided and inspected. Meanwhile, a grade-1 secretary’s house in Hassan was raided. His houses in Hassan and Bengaluru are being searched.
Raids have also been conducted by the Lokayukta in Mandya and Mysore. In Mysore, Lokayukta officials raided the house of a superintendent engineer of the irrigation department. The officials also inspected his residence in J.C. Nagar in Mysore. Apart from this, documents are also being examined in the Gokulam office. Raids were conducted at the houses of a retired executive engineer and his family members in Mandya. Raids were conducted at three places in Mandya district and two in Mysore. Raids were also conducted at his farm house in Ijalghatta village of Mandya district, his father’s house and a jelly crusher. Raids were conducted at the house and farm house of a retired engineer in Chitradurga. No official statement has been given by the Lokayukta on the raids yet.
