New Delhi: A tragic accident occurred during an airshow held in France, in which a 65-year-old pilot lost his life. The pilot was flying a Fouga Magister jet plane which suddenly fell into the Mediterranean Sea after losing control. The pilot died in this accident. The body of the pilot was later recovered.
The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. In which it can be seen that the aerobatic plane suddenly loses balance and starts falling rapidly from the height. In the video, the plane was seen falling straight into the sea, which shook the audience.
The Fouga Magister aircraft was manufactured after the Second World War, for a long time it was used by the French army as a trainer jet and for aerobatic performances. However, this old aircraft does not have an ejection seat facility, which greatly reduces the chances of the pilot’s survival in an emergency. The same thing happened this time and the pilot could not get a chance to get out of the plane.
The accident took place in Le Lavandou where the aircraft was being displayed before a performance by the French Air Force’s elite aerobatic team. A French Air Force spokesman said the aircraft crashed during an airshow organised to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings by Allied forces. The show was cancelled following the incident due to “unfortunate circumstances”.
