Liquor worth Rs 4 lakh seized from Tata Safari, four smugglers arrested

Durg. In a major action, the Nandini Nagar police station has arrested four accused involved in the illegal transportation of liquor. Police seized 28 cases of country liquor, an old Tata Safari vehicle, four mobile phones, and cash worth ₹474,500 from the accused.

Action has been taken against all the accused under the Excise Act. According to the police, on November 29th, information was received from an informant that a large quantity of illegal liquor was being transported to Nandini Nagar from a neighboring state via the Dhamdha route via Nandini-Khundini in an old Tata Safari vehicle with an unknown registration number. Acting on this information, the Nandini Nagar police team, under the direction of the station in-charge, immediately planned and cordoned off the route indicated.

A short while later, a suspicious vehicle was spotted approaching. Police stopped it and searched it, finding 28 cases of country liquor inside, valued at ₹134,400. Police arrested Naresh Kurre, Lavekesh alias Bablu, Aryan Kumar Lahare, and Prabhu Barle from the spot. During interrogation, the accused admitted to planning to bring the liquor from another state and sell it here. Along with the liquor, the police also seized an old Tata Safari vehicle used by the accused, estimated to be worth Rs 3 lakh, four smartphones (totaling Rs 25,000), and Rs 15,100 in cash. The total value of all the seized items is said to be around Rs 4,74,500. Police have registered a case against the four accused under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act and have started further investigation.
