Rajnandgaon. Locals protested on Friday against a proposed premium liquor store in Nandai Chowk, a densely populated area of the city. Store information indicates that a large number of people gathered and demanded the store’s closure.
Recognizing the situation, officials from the district secretariat department and retired officials held discussions to try to establish peace, but the administration issued an order banning the store’s operations as the protests continued.
Local residents say that a liquor store in a populated area has a negative influence on youth and poses a risk to social isolation. Aastha has also demanded the closure of local artists. Some BJP leaders have contacted senior leadership and demanded the store’s permanent closure. The administration has announced that the matter will be thoroughly reviewed, taking into account the concerns of the citizens, and a final decision will be made only after that.
