Khairagarh. As the elections are approaching, the criminals are trying new ways to fulfill their intentions. Dongargarh and Bagh Nadi police have busted two big cases of illegal liquor smuggling. Liquor worth lakhs of rupees was being brought from Madhya Pradesh to Chhattisgarh under the guise of vehicles carrying vegetables, but the vigilance of the police foiled these plans of the smugglers. The police have arrested interstate smugglers with liquor worth lakhs.
Dongargarh Police exposed a big case of illegal liquor smuggling on 28 January 2025. The police had received information that liquor was being smuggled from Madhya Pradesh to Chhattisgarh by hiding it in vehicles carrying vegetables.
The police stopped two vehicles, Yudha DI and Vista Car, by blocking the village Kumhadatola road. When the vehicles were searched, 35 boxes of Goa English whiskey and 10 boxes of country liquor were recovered. The total quantity of liquor recovered is 405 liters and its value is estimated at Rs 2,36,250. Along with this, the total value of seized vehicles, five mobile phones and other materials is Rs 14,62,250. The police arrested five interstate liquor smugglers named Rajesh Tagade, Ishwar Sahu, Rowan Chandrakar, Sohail Minni, and Rishikesh Hatile. A case was registered against all of them under the Excise Act.
