LG inaugurated the community hall and launched the ‘New Awakening 4.0’ campaign.

Zanskar: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, today reiterated the UT administration’s unwavering commitment to inclusive development, grassroots empowerment, and improved public infrastructure in the Union Territory. He was addressing a public gathering after dedicating several significant development initiatives to the people of Zanskar, describing them as crucial milestones that will strengthen the foundation of the region for long-term progress. Speaking on the occasion, Gupta said that the initiatives launched today reflect the administration’s firm resolve to bridge the development gap and extend modern amenities even to the remotest areas of Ladakh. He inaugurated four new community halls constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore under the Special Development Package in Lungnak block and said that these will serve as vital centers for community activities, social programs, educational programs, winter tuition, and public outreach, thereby fostering community unity and strengthening grassroots engagement. The LG also launched the ‘Nai Chetna 4.0’ campaign, a national-level initiative aimed at promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment, and a gender-sensitive community environment.
He said that this campaign will play a crucial role in addressing gender-based discrimination and ensuring greater awareness through focused training sessions, workshops, and community participation. Recalling the continuous support and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the LG said that the Prime Minister has consistently emphasized the holistic development of Ladakh, acknowledging the region’s community strength, natural wealth, and untapped potential. He further added, “The development projects inaugurated today are a direct reflection of the Prime Minister’s vision to make India’s border areas strong, self-reliant, and equipped with modern infrastructure.” Executive Councillor of LAHDC Kargil, Punchok Tashi, expressed gratitude to the UT government for fulfilling the long-standing demand for granting district status to Zanskar. He expressed hope for the early establishment of a fully functional district in the region. Those present on the occasion included Administrative Secretary Shashank Ala, Executive Councillor of LAHDC Kargil, Punchok Tashi; Councilors Stanzin Jigmet and Namgyal Phuntsog; Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar; Director RDD; SDM Zanskar; ACD Kargil, Chief Engineer PHE, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Kargil, Chief Medical Officer Kargil; community leaders, members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and government officials were present.
