New Delhi (IANS) | The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday raided the residences of RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s aide Prem Chand Gupta, party MLA Kiran Devi and her husband Arun Yadav across the country in connection with the job land scam probe. The scam allegedly involves former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members. The raids are being conducted at various places including Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Patna, Bhojpur and Arrah. The CBI is yet to make any official statement in this matter. The CBI had registered a case against the then Union Railway Minister Lalu Yadav (2004-2009), his wife Rabri Devi, two daughters and 15 others, including unidentified public servants and private persons.
“During that period, Yadav received pecuniary benefits in the form of transfer of landed property in the name of his family members in lieu of appointment of officiating Group ‘D’ posts in various zones of the Railways,” the official said.
Many residents of Patna themselves or through their family members sold and gifted their land in favor of a private company controlled by Yadav and his family.
No advertisement or any public notice was issued for such appointment of officiating in Zonal Railways, yet residents of Patna were appointed as officiating in Zonal Railways located at Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hajipur.
The CBI said, land of about 1,05,292 square feet, immovable properties located in Patna were acquired by Yadav and his family members through five sale deeds and two gift deeds, mostly on transfer of land to the seller. The payment was shown.
