Hyderabad. A sensational case of cheating people by creating a fake website of Congress has come to light. Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police has arrested a 22-year-old youth for cheating people by creating a fake domain name and website of the Congress Party and seeking donations. Officials said that a youth named Surendra Chaudhary has been arrested in this case. He is a resident of Jaipur. Police said Surendra Chaudhary created a fake website ‘DonateINC.co.in’, which looked similar to the real Congress website DonateINC.net.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police G. Shiva Maruti said that Chaudhary used the fake website to make people believe that it was a real website and they donated money. The officer further said that the accused cheated people of about Rs 1 lakh through this fake website. The number of how many people donated through this website is not yet known.
Following the complaint filed by the Congress party, Hyderabad Police registered a case under sections 66 (C), 66 (D) of the IT Act and section 420 of the IPC and started investigation. After tracing the details of the accused and identifying him, a team of Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police was sent to Jaipur where the accused was arrested. After bringing the accused to Hyderabad with a transit warrant, he has been sent on judicial remand, said A.V. Ranganath, Joint Commissioner of Police, Central Crime Station (CCS), Hyderabad.
