Tamil Nadu: More than 1,000 police personnel have been deployed for security ahead of the Maha Kumbhabhishekam ceremony at the Ekambareswarar Temple in Kanchipuram on Monday.
For the Kumbhabhishekam of this ancient temple, the Rajagopuram and Rishigopuram towers have been decorated with colorful lights. A vibrant mandapam erected in front of the temple’s main entrance is also attracting visitors.
The entrance to the Rishi Gopuram was adorned with colorful flowers and bore the inscription ‘Kanchipuram Ilavarukuzhali Sametha Ekambaranathar’. More than 1,000 police personnel from Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, and Ranipet districts, led by SP K. Shanmugam and DSP Shankar Ganesh, will be involved in security arrangements.
Police have erected barricades to prevent devotees from crowding to view the temple’s interior from the Rajagopuram. People lined up to see the Yagashala Mandapam.
More than 40 Othuvamurthis from across Tamil Nadu chanted the Thirumurai hymns accompanied by musical instruments. The festival arrangements were made by the temple trust committee members, led by the committee’s chairman M.V.M. Velmohan and officials from the endowments department.
