Calcutta: The health condition of music maestro Ustad Rashid Khan, who is being treated at a Calcutta hospital for prostate cancer, has deteriorated and he is currently considered “very critical”, an official of the medical establishment said on Tuesday. The 55-year-old musician has been found on mechanical ventilation and oxygen support at the UCI, he said. “Khan’s condition is very critical and he has been kept on mechanical ventilation at the UCI. He is also receiving oxygen. Our doctors are monitoring him closely,” the official told PTI. The musician’s health condition had deteriorated after suffering a cerebral attack last month. Khan, who belongs to the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana, is the son of the gharana’s founder Inayat Hussain Khan.
