Kochi: Senior Congress leader TH Mustafa is no more

Kochi: Congress leader and former state minister TH Mustapha died at a private hospital here on Sunday due to multiple age-related ailments. Family sources said he was 82 years old and is survived by his wife and four sons. Mustafa was the Food Minister in Karunakaran’s cabinet and a five-time MLA. He was undergoing treatment for various ailments at a private hospital, where he breathed his last at 5.43 am, hospital sources told PTI. Leaders of all parties expressed grief over the fall of Mustafa. Kerala Minister Principal Pinarayi Vijayan said that Mustafa has left his mark in the public life of Kerala as a minister, MLA and Congress leader. Leader of Opposition in the state assembly V D Satheesan said Mustafa strengthened the Congress and led it well in Ernakulam district. KPCC chief K Sudhakaran described Mustafa’s disappearance as a “big loss” to the party. He has played an important role in strengthening the Congress party in Ernakulam district. He was a great organizer and organizer. Sudhakaran said, he will help anyone who contacts him, irrespective of their politics or religion. With the demise of T H Mustafa, the Congress has lost a strong leader, AICC general secretary in-charge of the organization K C Venugopal said in a release. Venugopal told that Mustafa became famous in the Congress party through Youth Congress. “His immense contribution helped in the growth of Congress in the district. He also supported the party by selling his property,” Venugopal said. Mustafa was the Ernakulam District Congress Committee President for 14 years and served as the General Secretary and Vice President of the KPCC.
