Kochi: In a shocking incident, a woman’s body was found stuffed in a sack on the path leading to a house in Thevara, Kerala, on Saturday.
Police have detained the homeowner, George, who has reportedly confessed to the crime. Investigators believe the woman was murdered inside the house, and blood stains were reportedly found inside. The incident came to light around 6:30 a.m. when local women laborers noticed a sack near George’s house. They found George nearby, in an intoxicated, semi-conscious state, leaning against a wall. The body, found half-naked and injured, was slightly wrapped and lying nearby.
Locals said George was seen sitting with his head in his hands, unresponsive. Residents recalled that around 4 a.m., George was seen going to nearby houses looking for sacks. He reportedly claimed that a dog had died in his courtyard and he needed a sack to dispose of it. He later found the sack at a nearby shop. Witnesses said that when questioned, he said it contained a dead dog or cat. According to police, George may have fallen while trying to dispose of the body.
People informed the ward councilor, who then informed the police. The body was found in a busy residential area, surprising everyone. Investigators suspect the deceased woman was from Ernakulam, but her identity or motive have not yet been confirmed. George, a former home nurse, lives in the house with his wife and two children.
Neighbors said his wife was not home at the time of the incident, and although George was drunk, he never caused any trouble in the area. Later, the police officer stated that he believed the deceased was a woman whom George had picked up from the railway station the previous night and brought to his home.
A quarrel ensued, and in a fit of rage, George took a hammer and struck the woman on the head, killing her instantly. George’s wife was not at home on Friday night.
