Kerala: Police have registered a case against the protesters and started investigation

KILIMANOOR: A case has been registered against the protestors who were demanding the arrest of the accused in the accidental death of a couple. They alleged that the police are protecting the accused. The police have registered a case against 58 people. The case was registered against the couple’s relatives and others for obstructing public transport. The couple killed were Ranjith (40) of Rajesh Bhavan in Kunnummal and his wife Ambika.
A speeding Thar jeep rammed the bike on which the couple were travelling. The jeep ran over Ambika and Ranjith sustained serious injuries. Ambika died while undergoing treatment at the medical college on the second day of the accident. Ranjith died the other day. Relatives and locals held a protest in front of the station with the body of the youth for not arresting the accused involved in the accident.
The jeep that fled after the accident was caught by the locals and handed over to the police. Two people fled and one was caught by the locals and handed over to the police. However, he was later released on station bail. Locals and relatives alleged that one of the three identity cards seized from the vehicle belonged to a police officer. They said that they were protesting against the attempt to destroy evidence by setting fire to the jeep brought to the station as mainour. The locals alleged that the police are deliberately stalling the registration of case due to the influence of the accused.
‘The doctor said as the jeep ran over my sister, it was difficult to save her. She died after two days. The police have not arrested the accused even days after the accident. After filing a complaint with the chief minister, one present on the spot was summoned at the station. The police did not register what he said. The police said the jeep did not run over her body. The police said the vehicle was speeding up to Karette, but slowed down when reached Kilimanoor. The police claim that the statement of the doctor at the medical college did not mention about the jeep running over her body. If so, is what is seen in the videos of the accident is a lie?’ asks Ambika’s brother.
