Kerala: A man was arrested for allegedly setting his house on fire after suspecting his wife of infidelity

PATHANAMTHITTA: A man set his house on fire suspecting his wife of infidelity. The incident occurred on Friday morning at Vakayar Kollampady. The accused’s wife, Rajani, and their young son sustained burn injuries in the fire. They are currently undergoing treatment at the Taluk Hospital. Rajani has suffered 40% burns. The police have apprehended the accused, Siju, who had fled after setting the house ablaze.

This was Rajani and Siju’s second marriage. After their marriage, they were living in a rented house. Rajani woke up to the sound of the fire and saw the flames spreading. However, Siju was not there. Siju is a painter by profession. Police suspect that he used paint thinner or petrol to start the fire. A portion of the house was gutted in the blaze. Police said that he set the house on fire due to his suspicion of his wife’s infidelity.
