Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Sujoy Lal Thousen on Friday issued important operational instructions directing strict round-the-clock vigil along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Thoussen’s directive came on the first day of his two-day visit to the north Bengal border with an aim to review the current security scenario and operational preparedness along the Indo-Bangladesh border guarded by the BSF. On the first day of his tour, DG BSF along with Inspector General North Bengal Frontier first visited Border Out Post Hilli under Raiganj Sector of North Bengal Frontier in South Dinajpur district of West Bengal and Indo-Bangladesh border area of 61 Battalion BSF. “The Director General issued important operational instructions and directed for strict round-the-clock vigil along the border to prevent nefarious activities of cross-border criminals and anti-national elements,” said a BSF statement. In addition, DG BSF visited ICP Hilli and had a courtesy meeting with officials of Border Guard Bangladesh at the Integrated Checkpost (ICP). After this, along with the DG Inspector General of BSF, reached the BSF campus located at Kadamtala. IG BSF gave him a detailed presentation on the emerging challenges along the Indo-Bangladesh border and the strategy to deal with them. DG BSF discussed operational and administrative matters with senior BSF officers of North Bengal Frontier and reviewed the current security scenario and operational preparedness. Subsequently, DG BSF during a meeting with senior BSF officers issued important operational instructions and appreciated the efforts made by North Bengal Frontier for effective security of Indo-Bangladesh border.
