Rudraprayag (IANS) | There is still time for the monsoon to arrive, but the weather is changing every moment in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand. It is sunny in the morning and it starts raining in the afternoon. Kedarnath Yatra is getting affected due to rain. Due to bad weather, passengers are not being allowed to go beyond Sonprayag. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert till May 26. The forecast of the Meteorological Department is also proving to be true. It is raining with hail in the afternoon. This rain is affecting the Chardham Yatra. In view of the bad weather and the safety of the passengers, the passengers going to Kedarnath are being stopped safely. Yatris are being sent to Kedarnath only when the weather is clear.
Also, this time the administration also does not want to take any risk with the passengers. The administration is continuously advising to travel when the weather is right. On the other hand, 4 lakh 75 thousand pilgrims have visited Baba so far in Kedarnath Yatra. Despite the bad weather, these days around 22 to 24 thousand pilgrims are reaching for Baba’s darshan every day.
On the other hand, District Magistrate of Rudraprayag Mayur Dixit said that there is a high alert for rain for the next few days. In such a situation, the passengers should travel only after seeing the weather. Follow the guide line that is being given to the passengers. Also, carry the necessary materials to protect yourself from the cold. He said that precautions have been taken at the yatra halts regarding the safety of the passengers. NDRF personnel along with SDRF, Police, Travel Management, DDRF are helping the passengers in every possible way.
