Madikeri: The trek turned fatal for a Kodagu bound youth as he died of a heart attack after climbing the hill. The incident was recorded at Kodagu’s highest peak, Tadiyandamol (1,748 m), near Nepoklu in Madikeri taluk. The victim Jathin (23) is originally from Haryana state.
On Sunday, a group of six people, including three girls and three boys, planned to climb Tadiandamol peak. All the trekkers worked in different companies in Bengaluru and had come to Kodagu on holidays. As soon as the travelers reached the summit, Jathin started having trouble breathing. Sources confirmed that she became breathless and fainted. Among others, a doctor present at the scene is said to have extended his support to Jathin. But he suffered a heart attack and died.
The incident was informed to forest officials who managed to reach the spot, while Napoklu police were alerted about the incident. Jathin’s body was taken from the summit on a makeshift stretcher. Forest staff and police brought down his body and took him to Madikeri District Hospital. After post-mortem, the body was handed over to the victim’s family. The incident was registered at Nepoklu police station.
