Karimnagar: The work of the multipurpose park being developed at the centre point of Karimnagar city has reached its final stage. The officials are planning to inaugurate the park in the month of July after completing all the pending works. To develop recreational facilities in the city itself, the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation officials had decided to develop the park in the premises of the multipurpose school near Telangana Chowk under the Karimnagar Smart City programme. Since the park is being developed in the premises of the historic multipurpose school, it has also been named as Multipurpose Park.
The works started in the year 2020 include the development of attractive landscaping, walking track, children’s playground, musical fountain, amphitheater and other facilities in six acres of land at a cost of Rs 11 crore. Apart from developing the park, work was also started to revive and beautify the heritage school building. While landscaping works were started at a cost of Rs 5.50 crore, a walking track was laid at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore. Apart from creating a play area for children, various types of sports equipment have also been installed at a cost of Rs 50 lakh. A sum of Rs 2 crore has been set aside to set up a music institute. An amphitheatre has been constructed with the additional funds along with sound and light systems. The officials are also planning to set up food stalls for the convenience of visitors. Two parking lots have also been developed for vehicles.
