Karimnagar: The Minister Principal Breakfast Programme, started by the previous government late last year, has been suspended in many public schools in the district. Lunch agencies, which were authorized to serve breakfast to students, have been suspended apparently due to financial allegations. It aims to provide nutritious breakfast to students studying in public schools from Class 1 onwards so that they can focus on their studies and reach their maximum potential. It also aims to reduce the burden on working mothers. The breakfast menu includes idli sambar, wheat rava, chutney upma, puri, potato khorma, tomato bath, khichdi and pongal. Initially, it provided breakfast service to 23 lakh students studying in 67,147 public schools across the state. Later it was decided to extend it to all schools. The midday meal agencies participating in preparing food for the midday meal program also had the responsibility of serving breakfast to the students. Although the plan was implemented perfectly from the beginning, problems began later. Midday meal agencies have stopped preparing and serving breakfast because they have not paid their bills during the past months. Due to increase in the price of eggs, agencies have also stopped serving eggs in the midday meal. In a statement to Telangana Today, Burra Manjula, District President, Workers Association of Comidas del Medio Dia, said that, not being able to bear the financial burden, they have stopped work from December 19. Since the law projects were pending, he was facing serious difficulties in providing at least adequate food to the students. .During the last five months. “Then how can we serve breakfast?” He asked. PRTU district president Musku Tirupati Reddy said they are serving breakfast to students in almost all schools. Though it is beneficial for the students, how can they proceed without funds?, he asked.
