Kapurthala police registered a case of Rs 24 lakh fraud at a petrol pump.

Jalandhar: Based on a complaint from a local resident, police have registered a case under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after discovering fraud and criminal breach of trust of over ₹2.4 million (approximately $2.4 million). According to official information, the complainant, Preminder Singh, a resident of Kapurthala, alleged that several accused defrauded him on the pretext of supplying equipment for a petrol pump.

According to the complaint, the accused have been identified as Varun Kumar, his wife Shabnam Kaur Gill, a resident of Khanna; Rahul Malhotra, who operates through Muskan Trading Company; and Harbans Singh, a resident of Mahon village in Khanna. They allegedly struck a deal with the complainant to supply equipment related to setting up a petrol pump. The complainant alleged that the accused assured him of supplying the necessary equipment and, under this pretext, extorted a total of ₹24,03,440 from him. However, neither the promised goods were delivered nor the money was returned, leading to allegations of deliberate fraud and breach of trust.
