UP. When the Yogi government issued an order to write the names of shopkeepers on the routes of Kanwad Yatra, it did not take long for politics to heat up. Apart from opposition parties, NDA allies have also objected to this decision of the government. After JDU, LJP, now Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has also raised questions on this decision. RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary said that everyone serves Kanwad pilgrims. Neither does the person carrying the Kanwad identify anyone.
Jayant Chaudhary said, ‘Kanwad pilgrims do not take service by identifying caste and religion. This issue should not be linked to religion. BJP did not take the decision after much understanding. It just took the decision, so now the government is dependent on it. There is still time for the government to take back the decision. Now where should we write our name? Should I write my name on my kurta so that you can shake hands with me after seeing my name?’
Let us tell you that the Yogi government has issued an order for the shopkeepers and vendors on the Kanwar route. The order says that all shops and vendors should write their names so that the Kanwar pilgrims can know from which shop they are buying the goods. The Chief Minister’s Office has said that ‘nameplates’ will have to be installed on the food shops on the Kanwar routes across Uttar Pradesh and the name and identity of the owner will have to be written on the shops. According to the CMO, this decision has been taken to maintain the purity of the faith of the Kanwar pilgrims and action will also be taken against those selling products with Halal certification.
