Kamareddy: Mission Bhagiratha, survey nears completion

Kamareddy: The district administration has started household survey to find out the status of Mission Bhagiratha scheme in villages and urban areas regarding drinking water supply to households across the district. According to district officials, there are a total of 2,31,469 households in the district, of which officials have collected data from 1,95,929 and the remaining will be completed by the end of the month. Officials conducted the survey on June 11 and about 84 per cent data has been collected so far. The personnel involved in the survey have been asked to collect data from at least 23,000 households per day. In Domakonda mandal, officials have collected data from about 99 per cent households. Complete details of each household are being stored in the official app.

Based on the report, officials will decide on new connections to be sanctioned, how much water is to be given, how many new tap connections are required, how many Mission Bhagiratha connections are there in the district and how many are running on local resources. Based on this data, the government will prepare a plan regarding drinking water supply. The district administration has engaged NREGA field assistants, village secretaries, IKP staff and local electricity workers to conduct household survey on the status of Mission Bhagiratha. The survey is being conducted to provide drinking water connections to new houses coming up in the villages under Mission Bhagiratha after marriage or separation of family members, repairs and maintenance. The state government initiated the survey following reports that many villages were not being supplied drinking water under Mission Bhagiratha and many areas did not have tap connections but only pipelines and the pipes were damaged. The BRS government had introduced Mission Bhagiratha as its flagship scheme to ensure drinking water in every household in the state.
