Kamakhya temple lit up with 1 lakh earthen lamps

Guwahati: After the grand ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony in the country, around one lakh earthen lamps were lit at the iconic Kamakhya temple in Guwahati to celebrate ‘Deepotsav’. On Monday, Shri Ramlala will be present in Ayodhya temple. Since morning, there has been a huge crowd of devotees in the Kamakhya temple situated on the Neelachal hills, which is dedicated to Goddess Mother Kamakhya. The temple is the center of the Kulachar Tantra route and the site of the Ambubachi Mela, an annual festival that celebrates the goddess’s menstrual cycle. Similarly, one lakh lamps were also lit at the Basistha temple located in the south-east corner of Guwahati. The history of Bashishtha Ashram where the temple is situated dates back to the Vedic era. According to the legend, this ashram was founded by the great saint Bashishtha (Vashishtha).

Meanwhile, the city of Ayodhya was decorated with ‘Ram Jyotis’, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere symbolizing the divine presence of the Lord. Earlier today, ‘Pran Pratishtha’ concluded with great pomp and show, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the ceremony led by a group of priests. The temple echoed with shouts of ‘Jai Shri Ram’.

Many people from across the country participated in the mega ‘Diya’ lighting ceremony at the famous Saryu Ghat in Ayodhya. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had appealed to people to light ‘diyas’ at home to mark the historic ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of the Lord.
It is believed that when Lord Ram returned with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman, the people of Ayodhya decorated the city by lighting ‘diyas’ to welcome him.

The grand Ram temple was also decorated with colorful lights as people thronged the temple to catch a glimpse of ‘Ram Lalla’. However, the temple will be open to the public from tomorrow. Celebrations are taking place across the country, attracting worldwide attention.
