Kaithal: Kaithal Jal Shakti Abhiyan’s central nodal officer Bhumika visited various villages on Tuesday and inspected the works done under the campaign. She called upon the people to save water and conserve rainwater. She said that every citizen, especially women, should participate in the campaign. She visited Habdi village, where she inspected two ponds constructed under the Amrit Sarovar Yojana. After this, she inspected the paddy field planted under DSR technology in Tontha village and also interacted with the farmers. She called upon the farmers to adopt this technology. After this, the team visited the Net House in Naina village and Heritage Site Water Flour Mill in Sirsa Branch in Fatehpur Village.
Verma said that awareness campaigns should be run by all the concerned departments to make people aware to save water and conserve rainwater. He stressed on maximum recharging of water during the monsoon season. Verma called for concerted efforts by all departments to stop depleting groundwater. On this occasion, he inaugurated the rainwater harvesting system constructed in the irrigation department office premises and also planted a sapling. He also interacted with Bhujal Sahelis and encouraged them to work hard and spread awareness. Deputy Director of Jal Shakti Ministry Dr. M. Gobinath stressed on crop diversification to save groundwater. Superintendent Engineer of Public Health Department Mangat Ram Garg, Executive Engineer Prashant Grover, SDO Prince Saini, Groundwater Expert Shiv Kumar, Vikram Kumar and other concerned officials were present on the occasion.
