Agartala (IANS) | Jharkhand High Court judge Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh was on Monday sworn in as the eighth Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court. Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya administered the oath of office to Justice Singh at the Raj Bhavan. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Manik Saha, his cabinet colleagues, high court judges, top government and police officials. In a notification on April 11, the Union Ministry of Law and Justice said that the President has appointed Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh of the Jharkhand High Court as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.
Chief Justice D.Y. The Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chandrachud, recommended Justice Singh’s name for appointment as Tripura HC Chief Justice on February 7. The Tripura High Court was established in March, 2013 along with full fledged High Courts in Meghalaya and Manipur. All the northeastern states except Sikkim were earlier under the Gauhati High Court.
