Uttar Pradesh: The government has taken a major step to simplify the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) for journalists. The process for obtaining Ayushman cards has been simplified, made transparent, and expedited, providing eligible journalists with better access to treatment. According to government information, journalists who have applied for Ayushman cards will now be able to check their application status online from the comfort of their homes. They can check the status by visiting the beneficiary.nha.gov.in portal. Any errors or information in the application that require correction can be corrected by contacting the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office of the relevant district, after which the card issuance process will proceed. State Information Director Vishal Singh stated that the government’s goal is to ensure that no eligible journalist is deprived of the benefits of the scheme. A special online portal will soon be launched for journalists who have not yet applied or whose cards have not been issued for some reason. Through this portal, journalists will be able to apply through the District Information Officer of their district. This will simplify and streamline the entire process. This new system will provide journalists with health coverage for treatment at government and private hospitals listed under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive free treatment up to ₹5 lakh, providing financial relief for serious illnesses. This initiative is considered important for journalists because they work continuously in the field and often face health risks. In such situations, receiving an Ayushman card on time can provide significant financial security to them and their families. The government says that with the launch of the new online system, pending applications will be processed quickly and new applicants will also receive the facility without any hassle. All eyes are now on this proposed online portal, which is expected to bring relief to thousands of journalists in the state upon its launch.
