John Cena announces retirement from WWE

Los Angeles: John Cena will soon be drawing curtains on his illustrious WWE career. In a video posted on WWE’s social media account, John Cena announced his retirement from in-ring competition. He will bid adieu to WWE in 2025.

Cena made the announcement in a surprise appearance at WWE Money in the Bank in Toronto, Canada. In the clip, he said, “Tonight, I am officially announcing my retirement from WWE.”

The announcement has left his fans saddened. “You will be missed champ,” commented a social media user. Another fan wrote, “It will be hard to watch WWE without Cena.”

Later in his speech, Cena revealed that he plans to stay on to appear on Monday Night Raw as it will drop on Netflix in an unprecedented way in January 2025, according to Deadline.

“This farewell will not end tonight,” he added. “It’s full of opportunities. Everyone, Raw will make history when it comes to Netflix next year. I’ve never been a part of Raw on Netflix, this is history. This is the first time, and I’ll be there.

“And with that history-making first thing, we’re going to make many unforgettable finals. The 2025 Royal Rumble will be my last. The 2025 Elimination Chamber will be my last. And I’m here tonight to announce that in Las Vegas, WrestleMania 2025 will be the last WrestleMania that I will attend,” Cena said. Cena signed with WWE in 2001, starting working part-time in 2018 as he pursued his acting career. (ANI)
