Jharkhand News: India Bloc leaders take out protest rally against suspension of MPs

Ranchi: India Bloc leaders in Jharkhand took out a protest march on Friday against the suspension of more than 140 MPs from both houses of Parliament during the winter session. The procession passed through the school district of Ranchi and ended near Raj Bhavan, covering a distance of about two kilometres.

Addressing the gathering near Raj Bhavan, Jharkhand Congress President Rajesh Thakur said that the way the MPs were suspended reflected the ‘dictatorial attitude of the Centre’.
Thakur said, “The BJP government is trying to suppress the voice of public representatives. We have gathered here to protest against the dictatorial attitude of the Centre.”
JMM general secretary Vinod Pandey described the suspension of the MLAs as an “attack on democracy”.
“This action is not only against Block India but also against the people of the country represented by the MPs,” he said.
100 Lok Sabha MPs and 46 Rajya Sabha MPs were suspended for unruly behaviour, disruption of process and displaying placards and signs in connection with the security breach on December 13 during the recently concluded winter session of Parliament.
The opposition demanded a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the security breach when two men jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery and opened bottles, emitting yellow smoke.
