Delhi. The Government of India launched the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP). Under which quality generic medicines are made available to all citizens at affordable prices. In the last 9 years, there has been a rapid increase in the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras. Its number has increased from only 80 in 2014 to 9413 in 2023 (by May 31, 2023).
Also, the product basket (drugs and surgical instruments) has increased from 300 in 2014 to 2085 in 2023. As a significant step in ensuring the health security of Indian women, these centers are also providing sanitary pads at a nominal cost of Re 1 across the country.
