Jalandhar: Workshop on Happy Classroom

Jalandhar: CBSE’s Happy Classroom workshop was organised at MGN Public School. Resource persons Shivani and Upasana Rishi Raj from Cambridge School conducted their session further by engaging each teacher in a number of activities. The interactions and discussions brought forth several problems, causes and their solutions. The resource persons tried to highlight all the factors and provide solutions to various problems. Principal Kanwaljit Singh Randhawa thanked the guests.

Experts developed futuristic curriculum

The Kanya Mahavidyalaya claims to have developed a futuristic curriculum and innovative programmes with inputs from 140 academicians from top universities in India and abroad, including experts from UGC, MHRD, DPI and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, as well as industry experts. The comprehensive plan has been shaped and refined through deliberations in meetings of the Board of Studies of each department, Academic Council and Governing Body. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi said that the curriculum development process has been enriched by the insights and expertise of 140 eminent academicians from premier institutions such as Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and renowned universities of the world. Their diverse perspectives and pedagogical skills played a key role in shaping a robust and visionary curriculum. She also said that the college has worked with leading industry professionals from sectors such as technology, finance, healthcare, engineering, media and creative industries.

Faculty Development Programme

St Soldier Law College launched a week-long Faculty Development Programme (FDP) for its teachers. Dr Satish Verma, former Professor of Economics, RBI was the resource person for the first day. The theme of the FDP is “Adoption of New Education Policy in Professional Colleges”. Dr Verma explained the historical background of the New Education Policy and its salient features. He underlined the need to equip higher education institutions in terms of infrastructure, teaching faculty, interdisciplinary approach in courses, liberal education and teaching methods to adopt the New Education Policy. Course coordinator Dr SC Sharma welcomed the guests and Professor Monika Khanna presented the vote of thanks. The lecture was followed by a useful question-answer session. Group chairman Anil Chopra and vice chairman Sangeeta Chopra appreciated the initiative of the law college. Folk dance camp begins A 10-day Punjabi folk dance Bhangra training camp for preservation of Punjabi heritage was inaugurated on Thursday at the open air theatre of Lyallpur Khalsa College. The chief guest during the inaugural ceremony was Vice Principal Professor Jasreen Kaur. She was welcomed by Dean of Cultural Affairs Dr Palwinder Singh, Dr Navdeep Kaur, Dr Balraj Kaur and the organizing committee with a bouquet. Principal Dr Jaspal Singh said that this camp is making a valuable contribution in preparing new artists. Professor Jasreen Kaur said that such camps connect young Punjabis with their heritage. She said that youth and children should take advantage of such camps. Training camp in-charge Dr Palwinder Singh Bolina said that registration for the camp was done online and offline. He informed that more than 400 students are participating in the camp. Professor Satpal Singh moderated the forum.

USA Summer School Programme

Students of Vasal Education from Cambridge International School, Dasuya, GEMS Cambridge International School, Hoshiarpur and IVY World School, Jalandhar participated in the 15-day Summer School Programme under the prestigious “Access USA Summer School Residential Mobility Programme”. The programme was hosted by Access USA, Michigan College Alliance at University of Detroit Mercy (UDM), USA, which gave participating students an opportunity to think differently, explore education options abroad and create independent solutions. The on-campus students got the unique chance to participate in this programme along with other international students from countries like USA, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Chile and Dubai. They completed three credits on campus in various streams like Business and Innovation, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Transportation and Design streams. The curriculum of these courses helped the young explorers to learn about learning strategies in US universities and colleges. During this programme, these scholars were introduced to the admission processes, campus life and facilities. In addition, they visited the famous “Henry Ford’s Automotive Hall of Fame” (AHF), where they witnessed an antique car show and learned about the origin and history of the world’s famous cars. CEO Raghav Vasal shared that the primary vision and goal of the partnership was to provide an exceptional platform for students seeking higher education.
