Jalandhar: Vajra Corps celebrated Vijay Diwas

Jalandhar: The Vajra Corps celebrated Vijay Diwas on Tuesday to commemorate the armed forces’ historic victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak War. On this occasion, Lieutenant General Ajay Chandpuria, General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps, along with serving personnel, veterans, and Veer Naris (war widows), paid homage to the fallen heroes during a wreath-laying ceremony at the Vajra Shaurya Sthal in Jalandhar Cantonment. The occasion also included heartwarming interactions and a felicitation ceremony with veterans and Veer Naris, further strengthening the Corps’ enduring bond with its war heroes and their families. To inspire the youth and promote national pride, the celebrations included a display of weapons and equipment, a patriotic film festival, and motivational programs showcasing the Army’s courage, discipline, and technological capabilities.
“Carrying forward its glorious legacy, the Vajra Corps continues to exemplify vigilance and operational excellence in the present era as well. During Operation Sindoor, the Vajra warriors provided a swift, coordinated response to secure vulnerable stretches of the Punjab border and prevent the enemy from gaining any advantage along the international border. The 1971 war marked an unprecedented achievement, as India emerged victorious on both the Eastern and Western fronts, leading to the liberation of East Pakistan and the creation of Bangladesh. On the Western front, the Vajra Corps, proudly known as the “Defenders of Punjab,” played a crucial role through the resolute leadership and indomitable spirit of its soldiers, achieving assigned operational objectives and thwarting repeated attempts by the enemy to breach the security of the Punjab sector,” veterans recounted during the gathering after the wreath-laying ceremony.
