Jalandhar: Two people arrested with opium

Hoshiarpur: Sadar police arrested an accused and his accomplice who were on bail in a drug smuggling case and recovered 1.5 kg opium from them. Police have registered a case against both of them. According to information, ASI Sushil Singh posted in CIA staff said that police had received information that accused Bajeed Ali resident of Chandpura district Badaun (UP), who was on bail in a drug smuggling case, and his accomplice Suraj were going to smuggle opium from UP. Police raided Suraj’s house in village Purana Naru Nangal. During the search, opium was recovered from them, which they were going to sell.

Cash, jewellery stolen

Hoshiarpur: Unknown thieves targeted a house and stole cash, jewellery and other valuables worth lakhs. City police station has registered a case in this regard. According to information, Yogesh Bagga, resident of Akash Nagar, told the police that he had gone out with his family. When he returned, he saw that the locks of the house were broken and the items were scattered. On investigation, it was found that the thieves had stolen Rs 4 lakh, gold and silver jewellery and a submersible motor.
