Jalandhar: Thieves broke into a house and fled with valuables worth Rs 8 lakh.

Jalandhar: Thieves stole valuables worth lakhs of rupees from a locked house on Salaicha Road in Shahkot on Friday. The burglary is believed to have taken place in the early hours of Friday. Amrik Singh, a resident of Talwandi Butian village, said that his relatives’ house on Salaicha Road had been locked since they went abroad. He said that his relatives’ neighbors on Salaicha Road informed him about the burglary at the house. He said that when he reached the house with others, all the doors were found broken. The thieves had ransacked the entire house.
He said that a large LED TV, Rs 60,000 in cash, valuables, the DVR of the CCTV cameras, bathroom taps, and countless other items were missing from the house. He said that all the cupboards in the house were broken. He said that the thieves made off with goods and valuables worth Rs 8 lakh. A team from the Shahkot police reached the house and started an investigation into the incident. ASI Avtar Singh, in-charge of the 112 helpline, said that a complaint regarding the theft has been received and the police are searching for the culprits.
