Jalandhar: The Mass Media Wing, in collaboration with the National Pollution Control Program, organized a health awareness program at Devki Nandan Sanatan Dharma Senior Secondary School in Nawanshahr. The program was conducted with the cooperation of the school principal, Kiran Handa Julka, and saw active participation from teachers and students. Deputy Education and Information Officer Tarsem Lal addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of health awareness, stating that it is essential for every individual. He provided detailed information about various government health programs, including free treatment for snake and dog bites, hepatitis and AIDS control programs, the National Vector-Borne Disease Control Program, immunization initiatives, and other public health schemes.
Along with health awareness, Tarsem Lal also emphasized the importance of environmental protection and urged the students to contribute positively to protecting their surroundings. He appealed to everyone to switch off electrical appliances such as lights, fans, and air conditioners before leaving their homes, schools, or offices; to prioritize walking, cycling, and using public transport such as buses and school buses; and to prevent water wastage by properly closing taps and washing vehicles only at designated places.
He also advised the students and staff to avoid littering, use dustbins for disposing of waste, carry cloth bags instead of plastic bags while shopping, plant new trees, and take proper care of plants. He encouraged the participants to spread these messages to their families and communities to ensure a clean and healthy environment. The teachers, including Aarti, Gurbaksh Kaur, Neetu, Shweta, Ravinder Karbal, Rekha, Mohit, Mahak Jain, and Dolly Sharma, along with staff member Harman and the students, extended their full cooperation in making the program a success.
