Jalandhar: The federation distributed blankets to mid-day meal workers.

Jalandhar: In view of the biting cold, a blanket distribution program for mid-day meal workers was organized today at SPS Hoshiarpur Chowk, Phagwara, under the leadership of District President Satwant Singh Toora. The program was held in the presence of District Finance Secretary Mr. Manjit Gat, Mr. Santokh Singh Malhi, District General Secretary Mr. Lakhvir Chand, Tehsil Phagwara President Mr. Balwinder Nidhadak, and Block Phagwara President Vinod Kumar. Addressing a large gathering on the occasion, the federation showed solidarity with the mid-day meal workers, considering them an integral part of their extended family and honoring them with full respect. District President Satwant Singh Toora said that the federation has been organizing blanket distribution for mid-day meal workers every year on the occasion of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvan Diwas as part of its commitment to social responsibility and employee welfare.
Speakers from various sections emphasized the need for collective and proactive efforts on social and employee-related issues. Toora urged the government to link the wages of mid-day meal workers to DC rates and assured full organizational support, calling for a united struggle to achieve this demand. He alleged that the government has failed to show seriousness in resolving employee issues over the past four years, including the restoration of the old pension scheme, restoration of discontinued allowances, implementation of the 85th Constitutional Amendment, and withdrawal of the Personnel Department’s letter dated October 10, 2014.
He warned that the continued neglect of the legitimate demands of the employees would force them to raise these issues forcefully during the upcoming assembly elections, leading to strong protests from the employee community. Principal Jaswinder Singh, Principal Jasvir Singh, and Rupinder Minhas were present as chief guests on the occasion. Those present included Pawan Kumar, Gursewak Singh, Ram Pal, Kuldeep Ram, Kamal Kumar, Amarjit Kaur, Anupam Kanwal, Jyoti Kumari, Kamlesh Kumari, along with a large number of mid-day meal workers.
