Jalandhar: The accused in the petrol pump shooting incident has been arrested after an encounter.

Jalandhar: Jalandhar (Rural) Police have arrested a man involved in the Kishanpur petrol pump firing incident that took place last December. The accused has been identified as Lovepreet Singh of Bhulath, who was apprehended after an encounter. On December 19, 2025, some youths in a car opened fire on another group at a petrol pump. According to reports, 10 to 12 rounds were fired. Police said the incident stemmed from a dispute during student union elections at a private college in Adampur.
The arrested accused was the second main shooter involved in the incident. Acting on a tip-off, a police team was conducting a search operation in the area near Alawalpur. During the search, the accused was intercepted. When signaled to stop, the accused opened fire on the police party. The police retaliated in self-defense. During the exchange of fire, the accused sustained a gunshot wound to his right hand. The injured Lovepreet was admitted to a hospital for treatment. A .30 bore pistol, three cartridges, two empty shells, and a motorcycle were recovered from his possession.
