Jalandhar: In view of the non-payment of sugarcane farmers’ dues of Rs 27 crore, the administration has announced to auction 17 different properties of Golden Sandhar Sugar Mills Phagwara. Confirming this, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Jashanjit Singh told this reporter here today that Tehsildar Phagwara will auction these properties on November 29 to pay the dues of the farmers.SDM Jashanjit Singh said that these properties of the mill operators include 20 Kanal 10 Marla Kothi of Ambar Singh Wahid in village Dhak Bhularai, 7 Kanal 6 Marla Kothi of Balbir Kaur Sandhar in Phagwara city, 54 Kanal 7 Marla land of Harpreet Singh Bains in village Bid Dhandholi, 89 Kanal land of Balbir Kaur Sandhar in village Nihalgarh, 104 Kanal 7 Marla land of Balbir Kaur Sandhar in village Jagatpur-Jattan; 18 Kanal 16 Marla land of Jaskaran Singh Bains in village Bidd Dhandoli; 19 Kanal 6 Marla land of Balbir Kaur Bains in village Bidd Dhandoli; 22 Kanal 4 Marla land of Balbir Kaur in village Rawalpindi; 46 Kanal 12 Marla land of Jaskaran Singh Bains in village Dhandholi; 76 Kanal 3 Marla land of Harpreet Singh Bains in village Dhak Dhandoli; 3 Kanal 4.50 Marla land of Harpreet Singh in village Bidd Dhandoli; 2 Kanal 8 Marla land of Sandeep Singh Wahid in village Khurampur; 7 Marla of Sandeep Wahid in village Dhak Khurampur; 3 Kanal 5 Marla of Sandeep Wahid in village Dhak Bhularai; 3 Kanal 2 Marla land of Rupinder Kaur Wahid in Bhularai, 2 Kanal 8 Marla land of Rupinder Kaur Wahid in Khurampur and 7 Marla land of Rupinder Kaur in Khurampur.
The SDM said that the auction will be conducted by Tehsildar Baljinder Singh. Meanwhile, a closed-door meeting of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Doaba) activists was held at Gurdwara Sri Sukhchain Sahib, Phagwara to chalk out the next strategy of their agitation against non-payment of dues of sugarcane growers. The meeting was chaired by BKU president Manjit Singh Rai. BKU general secretary Satnam Singh Sahni said that it was discussed in the meeting that about Rs 27 crore of season 2021-22 is due towards Golden Sandhar Sugar Mill, Phagwara, which has not yet been paid to the farmers. They further discussed that though the local administration of Phagwara has organised auction of the attached land of previous sugar mill owners on November 29, the revenue of which will be used to pay the pending dues of the farmers, everything depends on the outcome of the auction, said Sahni. He further appealed that efforts should be made swiftly towards payment of the farmers. Regarding the call for Delhi Chalo on December 6, during the meeting, the leaders said that it has been decided by the leadership of KMM and SKM (non-political) that on December 6, a jatha led by Sarwan Singh Pandher will march towards Delhi. On December 7, a jatha led by Surjit Singh Phull, BKU/Krantikari, on December 8, a jatha led by Jaswinder Singh Longowal, BKU/Ekta Azad and on December 9, a jatha led by Manjit Singh Rai, President BKU/Doaba will march towards Delhi. Sahni said that on December 9, at 6 am, BKU/Doaba leaders/workers will gather at Ladowal toll plaza in Ludhiana and will travel in vehicles towards Shambhu border. A foot march will be taken out from Shambhu border towards Delhi.
