Jalandhar: The Punjab State Hockey Championship for sub-junior boys and girls will be held from March 14 to March 17 at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar. This championship is being organized by Hockey Punjab in collaboration with Roundglass Sports. Providing details regarding the event, Hockey Punjab President Nitin Kohli and General Secretary Amrik Singh Pawar stated that players under the age of 17 (born after January 1, 2010) will be eligible to participate in this tournament.
Teams from various districts of Punjab will compete in both the boys’ and girls’ categories. All matches of the championship will be played on a knockout basis. To ensure the smooth conduct of the tournament, Hockey India-accredited umpires and technical officials will officiate the matches. The final matches of the championship are scheduled to be played on March 17. The officials further added that this tournament will also serve as a platform for the selection of Punjab’s sub-junior teams; these teams will represent the state in the upcoming Hockey India Sub-Junior National Hockey Championship, commencing on April 1.
