Jalandhar: The Commissionerate Police has ramped up its efforts to ensure road safety by launching a targeted campaign against drinking in cars and outside restaurants.
This initiative, under the directive of Swapan Sharma, Commissioner of Police, aims to curb the illegal practice of consuming alcohol at public places and vehicles.
A special drive is being conducted to enforce this campaign. The drive, led by Aditya, ADCP-City 2, and Aatish Bhatia, ACP-Traffic, took place between 7pm and 11pm. Barricades were set up at several locations.
As per information, in the last two days, 74 challans were issued, including eight for drunken driving. The primary goal of the drive is to send a clear message that violations of this nature will not be tolerated. Offenders found drinking in cars or outside restaurants are subjected to strict penalties in accordance with the law. Police officials said this initiative underscored the Commissionerate Police’s commitment to maintaining public safety and ensuring compliance with road safety regulations.
