Jalandhar: Smuggler arrested with 35 grams of heroin

Jalandhar: Kapurthala police arrested a drug smuggler and recovered heroin from him during routine patrolling in the Fattudhinga area. According to police sources, ASI Dilbag Singh’s team noticed a young man suspiciously, who panicked upon seeing the patrol team and tried to flee. During the attempt, he allegedly threw a transparent packet from his lower pocket. The police team immediately apprehended the suspect with the help of accompanying officers. Upon examining the discarded packet, 35 grams of heroin was recovered. The accused was identified as Pawan Kumar, son of Mukha Ram, a resident of Khanpur village under the jurisdiction of the police station. Following the recovery, the accused was arrested and a case was registered at the concerned police station under sections 21, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act. The contraband was seized as per legal procedure. Police officials said further investigations are underway to trace the source of the drugs and determine whether the accused has any links to a larger drug trafficking network. They reiterated their commitment to curbing the drug menace and appealed to the public to share information related to illegal drugs.
