Jalandhar: Jalandhar rural police has arrested six persons involved in drug peddling and several robbery cases. Police have seized 1.05 kg of hashish from their possession. The accused have been identified as Rahul alias Mangi, resident of Mohalla Choudharya, Phillaur, Anil Paswan of Bihar, resident of Phillaur, Rekha, resident of Jagatpur Panjdhera, Phillaur, Vikas alias Bobby, resident of Mohalla Ravidaspura, Phillaur, Gaurav Kumar alias Bhakta, resident of Mohalla Bhandera, Phillaur and Sunita, resident of Mohalla Santokhpura, Phillaur. SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that the operation was carried out under the supervision of DSP Phillaur Swarn Singh Bal. A special check-point was set up under the leadership of SHO Inspector Sukhdev Singh of Phillaur police station, where the accused were arrested with a huge quantity of hashish as well as a stolen motorcycle, which was stolen from the vicinity of Shiv Mandir, GT Road, Phillaur. The SSP said that the accused will be produced in the local court.
In a separate operation, the police team has also arrested three members of a gang, who were allegedly carrying out robbery incidents in the area. Police have recovered 14 stolen mobile phones and a motorcycle from the gang members. These people were terrorizing people in Phillaur, Guraya and Bilga. SSP Khakh elaborated, “With the arrest of these criminals, robbery incidents in the area have reduced significantly.” In this regard, an FIR was registered on August 28 at Phillaur police station under section 20C of NDPS Act, while FIRs were registered on August 19 and August 13 at Phillaur police station. They will be produced in the local court and their remand will be taken for further investigation of the case and to probe their back-and-forth links.
