Jalandhar: Night patrolling increased to check traffic violations
Jalandhar: The Commissionerate Police has intensified night patrolling to curb crime and enforce traffic rules. The campaign, launched under the guidance of Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, is particularly targeting violators between 7 pm and 9 pm daily. The campaign is being led by ADCP City-2 Aditya and ACP Traffic Aatish Bhatia. During the campaign, major locations across the city, including Model Town, PPR Mall, Urban Estate Phase-2 and BMC Chowk, were targeted.
ACP Traffic Aatish Bhatia said, “The initiative is aimed at curbing criminal activities, ensuring smooth flow of traffic and enhancing road safety for all citizens. Police teams, including SHOs and traffic and emergency response squads, conducted rigorous inspections during the campaign.” He said that on Tuesday, the campaign resulted in 30 traffic challans being issued for various offences such as drunk driving, driving without a helmet, riding three people, underage driving, jumping red lights and modified silencers on motorcycles. Besides, several vehicles were seized for lack of necessary documents. He said, “This night patrolling underlines the commitment of the Commissionerate Police to maintain law and order and ensure safety on the roads.”
