Jalandhar: National Lok Adalat organised on 10th May

Jalandhar: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kapurthala organised an awareness seminar at Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre of Judicial Court Complex, Kapurthala. The aim of the seminar was to educate women advocates of District Bar Association about the committee constituted for prevention of sexual harassment at workplace. The session was chaired by Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Kapurthala Rajwant Kaur. Addressing a gathering, the judge emphasised that if a woman employee faces physical harassment at her workplace, she should report the matter to the higher authorities, who may bring it to the notice of the Sexual Harassment Committee.
The judge further said that women are entitled to get free legal aid under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. Additionally, they can seek assistance through the toll-free helpline 15100 of the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA). During the session, detailed information about the Legal Services Unit for Children, Unit for Persons with Mental Illness and Unit for Persons with Mental Disabilities (MANONIYA) was also shared. In an important announcement, the judge informed that the District Legal Services Authority, Kapurthala, will organise a National Lok Adalat in all the district courts on May 10.
