Jalandhar: National Communal Harmony Flag Day

Jalandhar: The school’s Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Social Welfare Club organised a special gathering to celebrate National Communal Harmony Flag Day. Club teacher Hardeep Singh delivered a detailed lecture on the occasion. Arshdeep Kaur of Class IX delivered a short speech on communal harmony. Club member and Class VII student Sarabsukhdeep Kaur administered the oath of communal harmony on the occasion. Principal Amandeep Singh gave a message to the students and teachers to respect all religions, castes and creeds. The students and teachers collected donations worth Rs. 3000 by selling communal harmony flags. The amount collected will be sent to the National Foundation, New Delhi. Government Senior Secondary School, Balchiwind and Government High School, Mode in collaboration with District Bureau Employment Centre, Amritsar organised seminars under mass counselling for students of classes 9 to 12. District Guidance Counsellor Sukhpal Singh Sandhu, District Education Officer (Secondary) Sunil Kumar, Mobilization Manager, Sun Foundation, Harbhagwant Singh, District Education Officer (Secondary), Khanna were present in the event. Mass counselling of students of classes 9 to 12 was organised. The students were informed about the facilities provided by District Employment Bureau, Amritsar, other government departments as well as free courses run by Sun Foundation. They were informed about ITI, Polytechnic and other opportunities.
Constitution Day at GNDU
Celebrating Constitution Day, the Law Department of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar organised a free legal aid camp and a guest lecture titled “Constitutional Right to Justice in India: Role and Impact of Lok Adalats”. The event also saw the launch of the first issue of the new student magazine of the Department, a platform designed to reflect the creativity and voice of law students. Civil Judge (Senior Division) and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Amardeep Singh Bains was present as the special guest speaker at the event. The event began with an address that highlighted the significance of Constitution Day in upholding the democratic values ​​of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. Dr. Meenu Verma, Head, Department of Law, greeted Bains and presented him with a token of appreciation. Amardeep Singh Bains discussed the important role of Lok Adalats in providing accessible justice to all, focusing on their impact as a cost-effective, efficient means of dispute resolution that greatly benefits disadvantaged communities. He also emphasized the importance of legal aid services in empowering individuals to fully realize their constitutional rights. A free legal aid camp, coordinated by Dr. Manjit Singh, was also organized. Dr. Meenu Verma unveiled the cover page of the student magazine of the Department of Law, which will soon be available on the University website.
