Jalandhar: Murder case emerges as major crime in the district

Jalandhar: Police said a case has been registered at the Lohian police station under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code in connection with the death of Paramjit Singh of Pipli village. This is the most serious criminal case registered in Jalandhar district in recent times. According to the complaint, Paramjit Singh was last seen leaving his home with Boota Singh and Punjab Singh on the evening of January 3, 2026. He did not return, prompting his family to search for him. Early the next morning, the complainant allegedly found Paramjit Singh unconscious at his home, where he was later declared dead. The complainant alleged that the accused, including Jaswinder Singh alias Pindi, Harmesh Singh, his wife Swaran Kaur, and others, administered poison to the deceased, leading to his death.
Police stated that a murder case has been registered and an investigation is underway, with several accused yet to be arrested. In addition to the murder case, police at the Bilga police station have registered a case under sections 323, 324, 506, 148, 149, and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against 19 accused following an alleged violent clash and conspiracy related to a dispute at Dana Mandi in Malsahib. The complainant alleged that the accused attacked him and his companion. Police said the matter is under investigation. In Nakodar city, a case has been registered under sections 379 and 411 of the IPC in connection with the theft of a motorcycle with registration number PB-08-FS-4728. One accused, Gurvinder Singh alias Ginda, has been arrested, while efforts are underway to recover the stolen vehicle.
