Jalandhar: The property tax wing of Municipal Corporation today inspected various properties here to ascertain whether they are paying the correct amount of property tax or not. As part of the drive, notices will be issued to Nandini Resorts, Modi Resorts and a branch of McDonald’s regarding certain documents. “We inspected the properties and there is a possibility that less amount of property tax was being paid.
If any irregularities are found, the properties will be sealed,” an official said. So far, the wing has recovered Rs 9 crore. The target for this financial year is Rs 45 crore. There are around 1.65 lakh taxable properties in the city, which include residential and commercial properties. As part of the process to take action against defaulters, inspectors of the property tax wing visit different areas to collect taxes.
